Empowering women in Shire

Heal Our People (HOP), in partnership with the DFATD of Canada, initiated a transformative project aimed at rebuilding community ties and empowering women in Shire. This initiative emphasized gender sensitivity and community engagement to promote peace and economic resilience.

As part of the project, 40 women-headed IDP households participated in a comprehensive two-month vocational training program in food preparation. This training equipped participants with practical skills and prepared them for self-employment and job readiness.

A significant highlight of the project was the grand graduation ceremony in Shire, celebrating the achievements of these resilient women. Following their training, twelve graduates formed three groups have started food preparation businesses, while three other trainees secured employment at the food preparation center where they received their training. All participants have since started leading better lives with their families.

The graduates expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Embassy of Canada for the invaluable opportunity provided, which has significantly improved their lives.
