HOP launched an advocacy workshop on inclusion of peace building, peaceful coexistence and conflict resolution topics in secondary school curriculum. The workshop aimed to raise awareness and influence educational policy makers, school administrators, teachers, parents and students about the importance of integrating peace related topics into secondary school education. The workshop persuaded the importance of peace and conflict resolution, fostering a culture of empathy and tolerance.
With the participation of 23 (20 male and 3 female) attendants, professional resource persons from Mekelle University were responsible for presentation of themes on “The importance of inclusion of peace building, peaceful coexistence and conflict resolution topics in secondary school curriculum” and “Developing strategies to integrate peace-building, conflict resolution, and coexistence topics across various subjects (e.g., history, social studies, and ethics)”.
The workshop was fully funded by the Canada fund for local initiatives.
