HOP has secured CAD 60,000 from the government of Canada for the project in Western Tigray aimed at fostering positive relationships between returning internally displaced persons (IDPs) and local settlers. The project, which runs from May 20, 2024, to February 21, 2025, focuses on facilitating the safe and sustainable return of IDPs to their place of origin. Through an advocacy campaign and peace-building training, the project aims to mitigate potential violent conflict and promote peaceful coexistence between returning IDPs and current local settlers. The long-term expected results include improved community relations, reduced tensions, and enhanced stability in the region.
